Lamepa Department
“Connecting Congregations Through News, Faith, and Fellowship”
The CCCAS Lamepa Department is responsible for producing and publishing the official newsletter of the Church, the Lamepa. In Samoan, lamepa means “lamp”—a fitting name inspired by the Psalmist’s words in Psalm 119, where God’s Word is described as a lamp that lights one’s path. In the same spirit, the Lamepa Newsletter seeks to illuminate the path of the CCCAS by informing members about the work of the Central Office and sharing important news and developments from across the Church. The Lamepa Newsletter is published bi‑monthly, with occasional monthly editions released for special circumstances.
In addition to the newsletter, the Lamepa Department produces and publishes the Tusi Faitau Aso EFKAS, the official daily lectionary of the CCCAS. This resource supports congregations in their worship services and families in their daily prayer gatherings. The Tusi Faitau Aso is developed in partnership with the IBRAand its publication Fresh from the Word—a collection of 365 daily reflections written by more than 50 theologians and biblical scholars from around the world.
Because Fresh from the Word is published in English, the Lamepa Department undertakes the significant task of translating the daily notes into Samoan. This work honors the contributions of the international authors while upholding the translation and publication rights granted by the IBRA. Each year’s edition undergoes a careful editorial process, with the final text reviewed and approved by both the Chief Editor of the Lamepa Department and the CCCAS General Secretary before publication.
TheTusi Faitau Aso EFKASis published annually in two volumes—January to June and July to December. While created for CCCAS congregations, many Samoan churches outside the CCCAS have also requested its use. In the spirit of Christian fellowship and ecumenical sharing, the Tusi Faitau Aso has been made available online for download, extending its reach to Samoan believers around the world.
